Frequently Asked Questions:

I know a host family already. Can I be placed with them?

In some instances, it is possible to arrange a direct placement. However, the family must undergo the same application and screening process as other potential host families. Therefore, there are no guarantees the placement can be arranged. Placement with relatives is not allowed.

Can I select my host country?

Students may choose from a list of countries around the world and are usually placed in one of their top three choices. But our international outreach program mainly focused on Germany and the USA.

What if I have a problem or have questions while abroad?

Kinder Spass provides each student with a Local Representative within the city he/she is placed. The Local Representatives assist in screening and selecting the right family and high school for each student.

Local Representatives keep contact with the student, family and high school throughout the program. The Local Representatives are highly qualified, trained to assist in the event of difficulty or questions and are supportive of the student throughout the program.

The local representatives are available to provide assistance to students. Local representatives can help students find academic tutors or local language programs that are helpful in speeding up the process of learning and speaking the host country language.

What do host families provide?

At the minimum, host families provide:

- all basic costs like school tuition (where applicable), a home and food,

- transportation to school and some activities,

and most importantly, a loving and receptive family atmosphere.
